Karen Kashmanian Oates, WPI's inaugural Dean of Arts and Sciences,
invites WPI alumni and friends to join her for a reception at her home in Northern Virginia!
Dean Oates will be joined by WPI faculty member David Finkel. Professor Finkel works with students in the Interactive Media and Game Design program and teaches Computer Science. The IMGD/CS program focuses not only on games for entertainment, but on using interactive media for serious instruction, training and simulations. Professor Finkel is also the director of the Silicon Valley Project Center.

As the inaugural Dean of Arts & Sciences at WPI, Dr. Oates oversees seven academic departments:
Biology and Biotechnology, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Computer Science, Humanities and Arts, Mathematical Sciences, Physics, and Social Science and Policy Studies – as well as interdisciplinary programs in
Environmental Science, Interactive Media & Game Development, Cybersecurity, Sustainability and Environmental Studies, International studies, Robotics and Data Science.
Dean Oates joined WPI from the National Science Foundation in 2010.
