WPI Annual Energy Symposium
The topic of energy stimulates conversation and controversy: Clean energy, cheap energy, energy shortages, sources of energy.

Recently WPI has also become a discussion point in energy – with the WPI Annual Energy Symposium. Launched in Fall 2012, the symposium provides a venue for leaders and representatives from electric and gas utilities, independent energy operators, manufacturers and others to discuss valuable and pertinent topics of current interest. If you are involved in the energy field, consider attending the 2014 symposium. Contact Corporate and Professional Education for further information.

In 2013, the Energy Symposium’s theme , "Building a Pipeline," referred to a collaborative effort by regional electric delivery organizations and WPI to boost careers in the power industry. The CEO of ISO-New England, Gordon van Welie, gave the keynote address which described the growing opportunities in power, as roughly a third of the industry workforce is within five years of retirement. WPI students presented their National Grid Engineering Ambassador work promoting careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) to middle and high school students. WPI graduate students reviewed their research, including publications presented at recent IEEE conferences. WPI Professor John Orr described the growing enrollment of undergraduate students in on-campus power classes and Corporate and Professional Education's Director of Power Systems, Mike Ahern, reviewed the growing national enrollment in WPI's graduate power education, both online and in classrooms. The Symposium closed with a panel discussion about careers in the power industry and networking for students and industry professionals.

Job Search Strategies as a WPI Alumnus/a
Thursday, Feb. 6, 6:30-8 pm

WPI offers a variety of assistance to alumni who are seeking new positions. This Webinar will help you harness the tools and strategic possibilities to aid you in achieving a successful outcome as a WPI graduate. The tools we offer are as beneficial to someone living outside the Northeast (or the country) as they are to someone living within commuting distance of campus. This Webinar will address targeting your market, how we can assist you in gaining entry to specific organizations within your target market, and how to leverage our resources in an effort to connect with other alumni. To register, please email cdcalumni@wpi.edu.

Note: Please open an account with our web-based system Job Finder beforehand as it will be helpful for demonstration purposes; we ask that you leave a 48-hour window of time (business days) to process your account set-up. Specific instructions for alumni can be found here. To register for this webinar, email cdcalumni@wpi.edu.
