Curiosity Hacked Worcester is part of a national, non-profit organization dedicated to addressing the needs of the global maker community through STEAM (STEM + Arts) education and skill building. At weekly meetings we teach and award Badges in skills such Soldering, circuit design, C++ programming, robotics, woodworking and music to name just a few. Meeting activities and Badge curriculum are heavily project focused with a strong emphasis on the completion of hands-on activities rather than lectures and slides.

Curiosity Hacked Worcester is looking for volunteer mentors and leaders who can teach or assist in skills or topics in which mentors have a background or interest. The group meets weekly on Wednesday afternoons from 4 to 6 pm at Worcester Think Tank on 36 Harlow Street. For more information please contact Joe Forjette at

For the Student Alumni Society (SAS), the conclusion of D-term brought several campus-wide end-of-the-year events as well as farewells to the graduating seniors.

Tarek Al-Shawaf ’55, the founder, president, and chairman of oldest and largest engineering and architectural firm in Saudi Arabia, received the university's Presidential Medal during Commencement on Saturday, May 17. His sons, Faisal and Omar Al-Shawaf, accepted the honor on his behalf. Established in 2001, the medal recognizes outstanding individuals from all walks of life who, through their professional or personal accomplishments, exemplify the ideal of the "technological humanist." WPI RECEIVES $40 MILLION – Largest Gift in University History

Robert A. Foisie ’56 is giving WPI the largest gift in the university’s 149-year history. Foisie, a first-generation college graduate who, himself, received scholarships during his time as an undergraduate at WPI, is giving the university $40 million to provide scholarships for generations of students to come. Over the years, Foisie has built a long and generous history of philanthropy at WPI, with a particular focus on undergraduate scholarships; prior to making this gift, the trustee emeritus was already the university’s largest single donor and has provided scholarships to some 580 WPI students. With this new commitment, Foisie’s lifetime of giving to WPI will amount to more than $63 million. Read more...
